Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission (Commission), during Safer Gambling Week 2021, invites you to the opening of the Centre for the Prevention and Treatment of Problematic and Pathological Gambling “PHAROS” which will take place on Saturday 09.10.2021 at 09:00 a.m. at the central square of the Municipality of Agios Athanasios in Limassol and the related panel discussions and trainings which will follow in the events hall of the Municipality on 1st floor.
The establishment of the Centre is an initiative of the Commission in collaboration with the National Addictions Authority of Cyprus, with the objective of providing information and prevention through the programs of the Commission and support, counselling and treatment through the National Addictions Authority which has appointed KENTHEA to operate the programs for adults who might experience gambling related harm. The Centre is located in a specially selected space which is provided by the Municipality of Agios Athanasios within its Social Responsibility framework.
The educational part of the day will include a panel discussion between a team from Finland which consists of Academics, representatives of the national services of treatment provision to gambling addicts and experts by experience and the opportunity for training by an expert by experience will be provided to professionals and university students from the fields of psychology, social work, and other related fields.
