The Role of the Commission
The Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission (CGC) is the regulatory and supervisory authority for casino operations in the Republic of Cyprus.
The Commission was established in 2015 pursuant to the Casino Operations and Control Law of 2015 (Law 124(I)/2015) and the relevant Regulations, with the aim of ensuring the lawful, safe and responsible operation of casino gaming in Cyprus.
Mission and Responsibilities
The Commission’s primary mission is to ensure the effective regulation and supervision of casino operations, with a focus on protecting the public interest, promoting transparency and ensuring compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework.
In carrying out its responsibilities, the Commission:
- Supervises and monitors casino operations and the Operator’s compliance with the applicable legislation, Regulations and the terms of its licence;
- Implements the regulatory and supervisory framework governing the operation and control of the casino;
- Monitors compliance with requirements relating to player protection and the promotion of responsible gaming;
- Contributes to the prevention and mitigation of potential gambling-related harm;
- Promotes public information and awareness on safe and responsible participation in gambling activities;
- Exercises the supervisory and enforcement powers conferred upon it by the relevant legislation.

Through its work, the Commission seeks to maintain a safe, transparent and effectively regulated environment, in which casino operations are conducted responsibly and appropriate safeguards are in place to protect the public.
Regulation of Betting
Betting falls under a separate regulatory framework and is regulated by the National Betting Authority.
Accordingly, the Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission and the National Betting Authority exercise distinct responsibilities within the regulation of the gambling market in Cyprus.
